Roles and responsibilities
When you run your own business you take on many roles and responsibilities. One of my key roles is ensuring everything goes according to plan. We work to high specification drawings and manufacturing tolerances that require precision and accuracy. Nothing is left to chance, from the initial specification to the final installation, we check and check again to make sure we deliver total customer satisfaction.
I manage project installations which involves liaising with our manufacturing team, agreeing specification with our internal design team and ensuring we have all the necessary handling equipment relevant to site access.
The logistics of every project is different so great care and attention is put into every job.
A typical day involves booking all the transport, ordering all the items required to be installed, booking the extra lifting crews, briefing our installation operatives in preparation for up and coming projects and liaising with the team on technical specifications for new projects.
As co-founder of Sightline I spend a lot of time exploring new glazing initiatives and ways of improving efficiency within the business. I am also proactive in developing complimentary products that could add value to the Sightline product portfolio.
Previous related experience
I have spent all my career working in the glazing industry which is over 25 years. I have experience in a wide range of systems including curtain wall installations, structural and energy efficient glazing. I am very proud of our premier glass door system which is a market leader.
What do you like most about your job?
Every day is different and you never know what is coming from one day to the next, helping clients realise there dream, engaging with the public on all levels, sorting out problems and finding the best solution.
The best part of my job is that I can influence the growth of the company making it better for not only the directors but for our employees.
